Our Quality: Our art reproductions are Giclée prints produced using eight color archival inks, instead of the standard four used to produce most art prints. We use archival papers and print at very high resolutions.
What is a Faux-Mat? A faux-mat is a customized digital mat image printed on the same paper as the art reproduction. It looks like a real mat, but it isn't. It is a printed image of a double mat. The faux mat prints are either 11" x 14" or 12" x 12" (standard frame sizes) depending on the aspect ratio of the painting. There are 2 big advantages of a faux-mat:
1. The creator of the faux-mat can draw upon millions of different colors to create just the right effect and combination of colors. A traditional mat maker usually has only a few dozen different mat colors from which to choose.
2. There is a tremendous savings. To have an art print double matted in the traditional manner can cost from $25.00 to $50.00 per print. The faux-mat costs a fraction of that expense.
